Selective procedure for the calling of a Senior Research fellow, according to art. 24, paragraph 3, letter b), of the Law nr.
240 / 2010, for the Academic Recruiting 06 / H1 Obstetrics and gynaecology, Academic Discipline MED / 40 - Obstetrics and gynaecology, at Department of Clinical and Experimental Sciences.
Maximum number of scientific papers to be submitted : 12 (twelve). Title of the research program :
S Surgical stress in gynecological oncological surgery : clinical and translational implications of ERAS, a call for action
Research program :
Surgical stress is a systemic response to iatrogenic injury and is characterized by derangements of metabolic and physiological processes which induce perturbations in the inflammatory, acute phase, hormonal, and genomic responses.
Surgical stress can be detrimental, especially in fragile and oncological patients and there is an increasing evidence suggesting that the stress response resulting from tumor resection has direct effects on tumor cells and microenvironment.
The candidate is requested to promote specific research about Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Protocols (ERAS) in gynecologic oncology field, especially for complex surgical approaches such as those performed for ovarian cancer, the reason why the candidate is required to have the knowledge and ability to undertake major oncological gynecological surgical procedures.
He / she will be asked to develop predictive models aimed to a reduction of the surgical morbidity and faster recovery, to study the impact on the Quality of Life, and eventually ensuring the implementation of transcriptional research findings related to ERAS in the clinical practice while promoting partnership with referral national and international centers.
