As a result of continued rapid growth we are currently seeking a Robotics Automation Engineer for our Worldwide Technology Engineering Services - Systems Integration team.

Your Responsibilities :

The Robotics Automation Engineer is a cross-functional role that requires weekday traveling in order to support different projects located in Europe.

The engineer will be responsible for designing, documenting, implementing and continuously improving control solutions for robotics and material handling systems.

The Robotics Automation Engineer will work autonomously in the field with different European stakeholders, internal and external, acting as single point of contact focused on controls for the project assigned.

When not travelling the engineer will support the projects working remotely from home or a local Amazon office. This role will also provide proper training and support to the local maintenance engineering teams on device / system operation and troubleshooting.

Key job responsibilities

The successful Robotics Automation Engineer will :

  • Prepare control specifications for technologies to be implemented
  • Perform PLC control level issue diagnosis
  • Follow change management process and develop ad-hoc PLC code change
  • Provide detailed analysis and testing of existing and new engineering solutions and components
  • Work in cross-functional team environment, to develop controls specification and training documentation for the Facilities Engineering team
  • Take responsibility of incident follow-up, root cause analysis and documentation.
  • Undertake industrial engineering design on existing and new material handling systems across our World-Wide network
  • Support commissioning of new automation elements
  • Ensure adherence to all Health & Safety procedures. Be proactive in the raising of potential H&S issues and the development of personal safety awareness
  • Fully understand and ensure procedural adherence to industry operating standards such as the NEC and NFPA.
  • Partner with different stakeholders to build effective relationships

  • 3+ years of control system working experience in PLC based controls design, development, implementation and support.
  • Experience with Siemens and / or Allen Bradley (A&B) PLC control level issue diagnosis
  • Experience in dealing with material handling, flow and capacity
  • Experience in industrial networking and communications
  • Expertise with Siemens and / or Allen Bradley PLC processers and input / output modules
  • Expertise with HMI systems, Industrial Networks, VFD’s, Servo Controllers, etc.
  • Expertise with Industrial control systems, both hardware and software
  • Experience with 3 phase electrical systems
  • Strong analytical skills
  • A team player who is willing to roll up their sleeves and take initiative to lead projects and deliver results
  • Self-motivated and customer-centric
  • Experience with email and MS Excel
  • English is our primary working language
  • Ability to travel up to 75%

  • 4-year degree in engineering, or degree in other related technical discipline
  • Advanced industrial engineering, project management and implementation experience
  • Knowledge of other languages (German, Spanish, Italian and others)
  • Experience with PC based control systems - CodeSys
  • Basics of robotic control - ABB, FANUC
  • Experience with industrial safety systems, both hardware and software
  • Familiarization with the electrical controls of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Basics of operating and managing Unix / Linux systems and containerization logic (Docker)
  • Basic knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Warehouse Controls Systems (WCS) Environment
