THSN (The Human Safety Net) is Generali’s global initiative for the community, launched in 2017 and now active in more than 20 countries.

It is driven by The Human Safety Net Foundation (THSN) based out of Italy and working in cooperation with more than 50 social enterprises and NGOs across Europe, Asia and Latin America.

Its mission is that of unlocking the potential of disadvantaged people, so that they can transform their lives and that of their families and communities.

Its programme focus areas are early childhood development and refugee integration through work. The Foundation’s ambition is to deploy the company’s international network of 55.

000 employees, 150.000 agents and 55 million customers towards shared goals, creating a chain of people helping people, moving beyond traditional grant making models and promoting social inclusion across all levels of the organization by working closely with the business.

As of 2022 the future home of the Foundation will be in Venice, in the Procuratie Vecchie on Saint Mark’s Square : the third floor of this landmark building will become a public space for sharing the issues and activities of the Human Safety Net.

Procuratie Vecchie on St Mark’s Square in Venice is in the final stages of restoration and renovation by David Chipperfield Architects.

From the first quarter of 2022 it will be open to the public for the first time in its 500-year history. Partners, visitors and Venetians will learn about the social impact of The Human Safety Net programmes and how they can take action along an interactive journey centered on human potential in the Exhibition Space.

A state-of-the-art Auditorium will host high level international events for Generali, The Human Safety Net and its global partners, local community initiatives, as well as those of revenue generating third parties.

The co-working space will host the staff and partners of Generali / The Human Safety Net to collaborate on the design of global projects, run trainings, residencies & capacity building to sustain and grow the network across the private and public sectors focusing on social innovation around the topics of THSN and the wider Generali sustainability agenda.

The Human Café will serve the public attending the exhibition spaces, functions and events.

The Events & Exhibitions Manager role will be responsible for delivering the content strategy of the THSN Home in Venice via the interactive experience offered to the public by the Exhibition and the portfolio of events that will be developed in the Auditorium and accessory spaces.

An exciting new role delivering experiences connected to social innovation and community engagement.

This will include the following responsibilities :

  • Activating and managing the exhibition space (permanent and temporary installations) and ensuring high levels of visitor traffic and engagement
  • Managing a portfolio of events that will be held at the Venice Home by Generali, THSN as well as paying 3rd parties (local and international)
  • The role will report to the Hub Manager of the THSN Home in Venice and work closely with the rest of the THSN team driving content programming, internal and external partners and customers who will host events at the hub and local vendors that provide catering, logistical support, and other operational tasks
  • Key responsabilities of the role will include :

    Exhibition Space Management & Activation

  • Manage exhibition space to ensure full-time functionality & updates with external service providers
  • Organise group visits and special initiatives to incentivize traffic
  • Plan and execute partnerships and special events to activate the exhibition space
  • Manage the Art Studio and its temporary installations
  • Manage CRM and donations journey
  • Management & coordination of ticketing, exhibition & front desk staff via an outsourcing partner
  • Event Planning & Management

  • Manage calendar of events (bookings management & contracting, relationship with event owners and intermediaries)
  • Support THSN team, Generali functions, paying third parties in running their own events
  • Management & coordination of outsourced operational functions (e.g. external event agencies, logistics providers, catering, IT)
  • Our ideal candidate will meet the following requirements :

    Must have

  • 6+ years of experience with temporary or permanent thematic, engagement-based exhibition space management (eg. science museums) and events, with a strong holistic knowledge of events and event production
  • A keen interest in innovation in exhibitions and in experiential learning, and a background in exhibition related project management is a requisite for this role
  • Understanding and proven exposure to sustainability principles and practices
  • Strong budgeting and contract negotiation skills
  • Excellent project management and execution skills
  • Proven people management experience
  • Experience in implementing and using software systems including CRMs, databases, or project management software
  • Proven track record in onsite stage management, production management, and scheduling (including production plans and work back schedules)
  • Strong sensitivity for ethical sourcing, socially conscious staffing practices, and creating sustainable events with a focus on low environmental impact and positive social impact in the communities in which you work
  • Knowledge of Venetian environment is preferable
  • Nice to have

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work across all levels in an organization and build strong relationships with external organizations, able to work collaboratively within a fast-paced distributed team
  • Creative and capable of coming up with innovative ways to activate the THSN Hub through engaging content
  • Data driven in decision making
  • Open-minded and excited about being part of a new initiative of The Human Safety Net
