The Appliances MDE Mold Engineer is a key member of all new development projects and is responsible for the successful design, build and qualification of new mold tooling and processes to assure the successful launch execution for new product development projects.
Specifically, this particular role will focus on the integration and qualification of new tooling at the TE Collegno Facility and may also involve support for qualifications within the local EMEA supplier base.

Responsibilities & Qualifications
SUMMARY OF PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for Design and Development of Mold tooling and processes to support new product development.
Supports Product Development in the optimization of designs for manufacturability; realizes sample tooling, product samples and prototypes.
Determines the most suitable manufacturing concepts related to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location.
Provide cost estimations for new mold tooling and processes. Determine sourcing strategies and establish manufacturing plan.
Prepare mold and process specifications for quotation and ensure molds are developed according to TE Engineering Standards and tool-
up comply with environmental management procedures.
Ensure molds and processes are designed to be capable of producing good quality products efficiently and effectively at the lowest possible cost.
Chair and conduct die tooling design review with the Engineering, Operation and Quality engineering.
Drive the design and build of tools to support scientific injection molding (Balanced runners, melt flipper, cavity pressure, etc.)
Approval of First Article inspections and process capability. Ensure approval through close follow-up on mold debugging, conditioning and modification.
Utilize analysis software applications to enhance molding process accuracy (5-step process, flow analysis, PFMEA, etc.)
Ensure projects are completed in a timely manner and properly transferred to manufacturing upon First Article approval complete with documentation.
Work within a cross-functional team consisting of various process experts.
Collaborate with global experts to update and continuously improve operational standards with regard to plastic injection molding.
Incorporate latest technologies and trends into process designs to maximize yield and efficiency.
Champion flexible manufacturing and integrate flexible platforms into designs.
Integrate feedback and lessons learned into new molds and molding processes.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Plastics Engineering.
Familiar with CAD / CAM / CAE software application (Knowledge of Mold flow analysis and 5-Step process required)
More than 3 years Mold design knowledge / experience.
Good knowledge in tool making, tool-steel application / selection, heat treating, and plating / coating.
Strong knowledge of various plastic injection molding processes (Injection, two-shot, insert, extrusion, etc.)
Strong understanding of polymer rheology, in particular, that of engineering grade resins.
Knowledge of Scientific Injection Molding and / or Master Molder Certification preferred.
Proficient in drafting techniques, understand tolerance calculations and has working knowledge of mechanical elements and fits.
Good knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
Good project management skill Ability to work on several projects at once.
Able to prepare and present Technical knowledge within a group setting.
Understand practices, terminology and tolerances associated with fabrication, machining, grinding, wire EDM, Molding, etc
Understanding of Six Sigma and Lean Principals.
Willingness to travel (5% - 10% travel as needed)
Ability to effectively communicate in English Written and Spoken.
