The primary function of the role is to lead global launch teams through the Target Cost process within Whirlpool Product Development (WPD).
Target Cost is a system of cost management that is price led, customer focused, design centered, and cross-functional. Target Cost initiates cost management at the earliest stages of product development and applies it throughout the product life cycle by actively involving the entire value chain.
The role exposes the Target Cost Analyst to Whirlpool’s global product launch process, and also provides first-hand exposure to Whirlpool global products.
The Target Cost Analyst will have the opportunity to lead and influence the cost of new products, ultimately helping Whirlpool to gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
The Target Cost Analyst will gain a working knowledge of applying the Target Cost process for both new launch and existing products, and will lead cost analysis to enable the project team to reach performance and cost objectives.
He / she will gain broad knowledge, experience, and understanding of Engineering and Manufacturing from a product development standpoint, as well as strong program / project management skills and excellent quantitative analysis / critical thinking capabilities.
Highly effective project management, communication and teaming skills are required when interfacing with Product Management as well as process partners in Global Strategic Sourcing, Marketing, Global Consumer Design, Finance, Engineering, and Manufacturing.
Your task in this role will includeThe objective of this position is to provide leadership over product cost management by : Leading the global launch teams to understand and achieve product cost targets, one of the key metrics of every project Providing product cost visibility to business leaders across all functions, including, but not limited to : Product Marketing, Platform Engineering, Project Leadership Office, and Global Strategic Sourcing in regular leadership reviewsIdentifying and driving closure to cost opportunities within Global Strategic Sourcing, Engineering, and Marketing spacesLeading cost-trade off discussions with leaders in Global Strategic Sourcing, Marketing, Global Consumer Design, Finance, Engineering, and ManufacturingLeveraging cost models and other tools to drive Commodity Management personnel to achieve the component target costBackground and ExperiencesBachelor Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or Business ManagementHighly effective project management, communication and teaming skills are required when interfacing with Product Management as well as process partners in Global Strategic Sourcing, Marketing, Global Consumer Design, Finance, Engineering, and Manufacturing.
