You will assume the overarching responsibility for supporting IT Platforms leadership and senior Product / Project Managers in overseeing, managing and optimizing the entire life cycle of IS / IT Product Groups to maximize business value delivery and value for money.
A Day in the Life of an IT Platforms Project Portfolio Lead
Work with IT Platforms Product / Platform Group owners and related specialists to enable and foster an appropriate IT project portfolio management (PPM) environment by : Working with the IT Platforms Stream Operations Manager in the deployment and adoption of agreed PPM process, tools, and templates Provide ongoing PPM mentoring and coaching support to assist implementation of the PPM methodology, working closely with project sponsors, product / platform managers, and other relevant team members to increase knowledge and elevate performance through one-
on-one coaching Collects project portfolio inventory with assistance from other support functions such as finance. Develops, tracks, and reports on agreed PPM metrics Oversees IT Platforms-
wide portfolio prioritization and reprioritization reviews for all related projects Assist the IT Platforms Stream Operations Manager to track and manage dependencies across multiple projects;
leads escalation processes to make issues visible to stakeholders and leadership; drives resolution of dependency issues through the agreed process
Lead reviews of any significant product / project portfolio elements on a periodic basis and on demand if challenged and provide visibility on trends and forecasts versus plans recommendations as to whether elements should continue as-
is, be significantly changed, placed on hold or discontinued
Apply external and internal factors and best practices to portfolio formulation and development
Make recommendations on the balance of the required investments and capabilities across teams within the product / project portfolio
Ensure the adherence to the appropriate governance functions relating to the Product / Project Portfolio and in accordance with enterprise guidelines, policies and practices
Ensure the oversight and coordination of dependencies across the elements in the Product / Project Portfolio, and resolve or escalate conflicts
Support Product / Project Managers and pool leads for identifying, prioritizing, and coordinating resources engaged with all or many of the initiatives within the IS / IT Program Product / Project Portfolio
Maintain an up-to-date portfolio structure and plans that meet the IS / IT strategy and needs of the organization
Facilitate and coordinate the efforts of the senior leadership, enterprise architecture and Product / Project managers toward the establishment of the Product / Project portfolio definition, its structure and investments, from demand management and strategic alignment;
to portfolio categories and criteria; through evaluation, selection and prioritization; to execution, tracking and measuring the achieved value and adoption
Collaborate with senior Product / Project Managers, BRMs and the Business to identify product / project portfolio level opportunities
What will make you successful?
Bachelor's or master's degree in information systems, business administration or related field, or equivalent work experience
Industry certifications would be advantageous (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP, MoP Practitioner)
5+ years of diverse roles and increasing leadership responsibilities across major IT projects and programs and ideally of portfolio management
Demonstrated experience in managing "upward" among senior leadership and in participating into strategic prioritization and complex governance initiatives
Data analysis / interpretation experience that shows a strong ability to convert general data and findings into applied, specific information and suggestions that add value to business planning and program evaluation
Mature practitioner of program lifecycle disciplines, namely strong knowledge of the integrated systems lifecycle development utilizing different and sometimes multiple development models (e.
g., agile, waterfall, hybrid, etc.)
Familiarity with the use of reporting tools to monitor portfolio activities and analyze portfolio performance and with one or more agile program mgmt.
methodologies (such as Agile or SaFe)
Deep understanding of the product / project portfolio and understanding of the other elements of the IS / IT portfolio
Strong business acumen, including industry, domain-specific knowledge of the enterprise and its business units; familiar with industry trends and innovation
Strong analytical, conceptual and financial analysis skills, and familiarity with financial reporting tools
Highly empathetic and able to vary styles of interaction to match the needs of a variety of business and technical audiences, as well as temperaments and personalities
Experience with effective communication at different levels in the organization and in English
Experience having worked in a global environment and with virtual teams
