Essential duties and responsibilities
Proven effective communication skills with team members and managers.

With additional experience within one area, the individual is expected to assist in the design of larger and more complex assignments.
Generally performs work, within the Process discipline, which involves the preparation, interpretation or review of calculations, specifications, plans, investigations, systems or equipment with some degree of complexity.
Participates in the following :
Process design, including simulations, concept sketches and layouts.
Application of engineering computer programs and solutions.
Preparation or review of engineering studies and reports.
Preparation of process specifications and design calculations.
Equipment design and development.
Testing of processes and materials.
Reviewing and checking designs. Drawings and data completed by other engineers.
Monitors project controls within discipline.
Reviews the design documents of equipment manufacturers or subcontractors of a moderate degree of complexity and prepares comments and recommendations.
Assists in on-the-job training of people assigned.
Has established a network of technology peers, project and task managers that regularly feeds them work. Workload valleys typically occur only due to unexpected project stops / starts, not due to limited network or inability to communicate independently with this network.
Still may require limited OL support / counsel for broader NA network leads and reach.
Provides effective leadership and direction-setting on projects as well as using staff effectively
Evolves from learning to leading others on how to deliver work
Able to recognize when they need off-loading
Shares ideas for project improvement / enhancement with project managers
Actively engages in the integration of new hires
Coaches peers on unsafe conditions

Job specifications / dimensions
Basic technical knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, PFD, P&lD. plant layout, materials, and computer-
based process engineering calculations.
Basic knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods
Basic knowledge of industry / regulatory codes and standards, and design and / or layout criteria pertinent to the process discipline.
Basic skill in oral and written communication.
Working knowledge or operating standard procedure, best practice, and other GOLDER standards and administrative practices.
Decisions : Activities generally limited to performance of required calculations rather than recommendations to solutions to complex problems.
Decisions are normally made within established guidelines.
Supervision Received : Receives operational supervision and technical guidance from more senior engineers. Duties are assigned with detailed oral and occasionally written instructions on methods and procedures to be followed.
Received instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features and possible solutions. Assistance is furnished on unusual problems and work is reviewed for application of acceptable methods and judgment
Supervision Exercised : May give technical guidance to one or two less experienced EITs or specialists.
Contacts : Contacts counterparts in other disciplines, supplier / client representatives and project field personnel when directed, to either gather or give information.
Those staff in this level longer could have client contact, although not in a BD capacity, but could be expected to be able to communicate appropriately with a client in the field, at a site etc.
They will be expected to apply more advance technical skills within their core competency and also have the ability to identify and understand technologies outside of their core competency to the extent it requires calling in additional experts etc.
Proposal support is more typical
Contribute on proposal team in technical area of expertise
Share learnings with others via brown bags, etc.
Actively mentor peers and junior staff at higher end of range.

This level continues an engineer's training and development. Primary focus at this level is on learning the job, mastering technical competency and delivering work (*).
The incumbent has thorough knowledge of own subject area or discipline and basic knowledge of others. He / she understands the objectives of the area and related regulatory and / or industry requirements and practices.
He / she evaluates, selects, and applies standard process engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment in performing process designs.
Performs assignments which have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables
Education, experience and certifications
BS or MS graduate of an engineering discipline.
3 to 7 years experience of developmental experience such as practical work experience in design engineering or other relevant types of engineering such as systems startup, field engineering or plant operations in large industrial plants, utilities, process plants, or engineering / construction firms.
An EIT from an appropriate recognized licensing board.
Professional Engineer License (PE / Eng) as required.
