Description

We are looking for a Data Specialist who will manage design and operations activity for our operational databases and Data Warehouse.

The ideal candidate has a degree in Computer Science or Engineering or another quantitative field, is adept at managing SQL and No-SQL databases and using large data sets.

She / He must have strong experience using MySQL databases, ETL procedures and Data Integration technologies.

The right candidate will have a passion for managing systems and data, problem-solving and working with stakeholders to implement data-driven complex solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Data Bases Administration.
  • Data WareHousing
  • Monitor and analyze data and systems and evaluate their performance to discover ways of enhancing them (new technologies, upgrades etc.).
  • Establish rules and procedures for data sharing
  • Support others in the daily use of data systems and ensure adherence to legal and company standards with a special focus on security issues.
  • Work with developers, BI specialists and data scientists with a particular focus on technical improvements and performance optimization.
  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
  • Take ownership of and develop regular automated maintenance jobs.
  • Monitor and maintain the health of the Data Solutions servers / instances. Keep up to date with the latest patches and hotfixes as necessary.
  • Assist with reports and data extraction when needed, providing the team with in-depth insight into query execution plans and provide advice accordingly.
  • Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline with 3 years of experience.
  • Proven experience in data management.
  • Excellent understanding of data administration and management functions (collection, analysis, distribution, governance etc.).
  • Proven familiarity with master database systems, governance approaches and understanding of the principles of data management and administration.
  • Database administration experience in a MySQL / Aurora environment.
  • Strong Experience with SQL
  • Security management experience in a DWH environment, preferably Tableau.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on process optimization
  • Good knowledge of the English language (both written and spoken)
  • Nice to have

  • Coding knowledge and experience with several languages.
  • Experience querying databases and using statistical computer languages : R, Python, SLQ, etc.
  • Experience using web and cloud services (i.e. AWS S3).
  • Experience with distributed data / computing tools : Map / Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Gurobi, MySQL, etc.
  • Experience visualizing / presenting data for stakeholders using : Tableau, Looker, etc.
  • Master of Science in Computer Science or Engineering preferred.
  • Office located in Rome
