The (CMBR), a Network Center of IIT based in Pontedera, Pisa, is opening a Postdoctoral position in Bioinspired Soft Robotics Research Line in the context of the Regione Toscana POR-

FESR 2014-2020 action Smart Machines for Agricultural Solutions Hightech SMASH , CUP J56C18000340002, funded by Regione Toscana .

The major objective is to investigate robotics solutions merging soft materials with bioinspired approaches. The final aim is to achieve self-

growing, smartly actuated robots with sensing capabilities drawing inspiration from plants that are used as a design guideline in terms of materials, structure and function (a widely addressed topics at the Center).

We are looking for a scientist with experience in the following areas :

  • Soft robotics and bioinspired robotics;
  • Soft and smart materials;
  • 3D analysis and reconstruction of movement;
  • Biomechanical modelling.
  • Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Biorobotics, Robotics, Biomechanics or a related field and a proven track record of high quality publications.

    The successful candidate should be able to :

  • Proactively perform research in a team of senior researchers, post-docs and PhD students;
  • Collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team;
  • Write R&D proposals;
  • Publish scholarly papers and be available to attend conferences, participate in meetings and other events.
  • The successful candidate will be offered a contract with a highly competitive salary that will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    Proficiency in written / spoken English is mandatory.
