Delivery Excellence is VMware’s brand for our Project and Program Management Organisation. As a senior leader with VMware Professional Services you will have full responsibility for the direction, methodology and best practices of our Delivery Excellence teams across EMEA.
Your practice will be closely aligned with our license and services sales teams as well as our Delivery consultants and Architects in EMEA.
Additionally you will partner with the Delivery Excellence organisations in AMER and APJ to define and deliver solutions based on standard delivery programs, methods and processes to service our customers.
You will set clear objectives for personnel, develop a creative practice providing thought leadership in the industry, execute go-
to-market strategies and programs that will drive growth in market share and revenue. You will lead revenue forecasting for the Consulting organisation, project execution, handling backlog delivery, establishing delivery partner relationships, and ultimately are responsible for customer satisfaction.
In this role you will operationalise the Delivery Excellence Strategy in conjunction with the DE leaders in other geos and our global PS organisation.
You will enact go to market plans and enablement of Delivery Excellence with a variety of stakeholders. You will also be a key stakeholder for business management (revenue and margin), personnel management (hiring, development, utilization), services offering development, and customer satisfaction, in partnership with the regional Delivery leaders in EMEA.
You will report to the leader for Professional Services Delivery.
Additional Responsibilities :
Partner with Operations and Finance to improve processes for governance, customer service, and compliance
Support and adhere to fiscal responsibility for the Delivery Excellence practice; balancing both client and VMware objectives.
Recruit, manage, mentor, and professionally develop a practice of program and project managers
Define enablement plans for the program and project managers by role. This includes on-boarding of new project and program managers and continued enablement (soft and technical skills) to drive delivery excellence
Participate in the pre-sales process with services sales, Program Managers, and consulting architects to understand customer business and technical objectives and product requirements, in order to build client relationships, scope opportunities, and deliver effective solutions
Maintain and project a proven understanding of all VMware product lines and corporate messaging
Provide support and mentorship to program and project managers on technical, delivery, and operational issues and help them work through obstacles to their success
Provide a leadership presence and develop customer relationships with VMware services customers
Align closely with regional field teams, service partners, partner teams, enablement teams, solution delivery, and Professional Services Operations
Work with virtual / global teams to collaborate on the evolution and improvement of Delivery Excellence
Solicit thought leadership from team and demonstrates steadfast and sound decision ability in addressing problems with business solutions
15+ years of meaningful IT industry experience
10+ years experience in customer-facing positions as a professional services leader, preferably with a software company consulting organization or large consulting firm.
Consistent record of planning and running large, multi-person billable programs for external customers
Program management background with 10+ years leading project / engagement managers
Budgeting and financial management including development and management of budgets
Skilled in leading client concerns to resolution
Understanding of consulting field organizations and partner ecosystems knowledge of key business drivers that can accelerate or prevent change while driving quarterly focused organization
Proven interpersonal and project management skills with an ability to handle challenging client demands
Experience in a dynamic, startup (or startup-like) environment and ability to thrive in a fluid environment
Ability to interact and communicate with CxO-level personnel and navigate customer organizations to ensure successful project delivery and acceptance
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
Ability to travel 50%
B.S. / B.A., M.S. / MBA degree preferred
