It is widely accepted that broadcasting systems are evolving towards digital solutions. The migration from the legacy Analog TV and AM / FM Radio to the new Digital Broadcasting Standards is in a very advanced stage in Europe and, although other parts of the world are lagging behind, the trends is unstoppable and rapidly gaining momentum.
In this evolving scenario different Countries have selected different standards : DAB / DAB+ is under deployment throughout Europe, DMB is well established in Korea, HD Radio was adopted in the US, Japan choose ISDB-T, DRM / DRM+ is starting in India while test trials are on-going in China either with CDR and DRM.
STMicroelectronics is developing a Digital Radio Receiver IC for the Automotive market capable of decoding all the above mentioned standards allowing its customers to support the requirements of worldwide Infotainment System with a single device thus minimizing design and validation costs as well as shorten time-to-market.
The IC embrace the Software Defined Radio paradigm performing most of the demodulation process in software. Multiple RF streams can be processed in parallel in the device’s Digital Radio Processing Unit which has been specifically designed to tackle the computational characteristics of Digital Radio algorithms.
The IC also embeds an Analog Radio Processing Unit and an ARM Cortex which acts as System Controller.
The audio decoder for the BSAC standard, belonging to the AAC family of audio codecs, is a crucial component of the DMB demodulation library.
The candidate will participate on the implementation of the MatLab model of the BSAC Audio Decoder block as well as to the implementation and validation of the embedded code on the device.
The ideal candidate should have followed some disciplinary area as Telecommunications Engineering or Electronic Engineering courses.
For this position it is necessary some previous knowledge in Data Processing and Audio Decoding. It would be an advantage if she / he has already experience with Digital Radio Transmission and knowledge of C language.
A know-how in the field of FW-development on embedded PCBs with microcontroller is a plus.
