Direct a group of product / process development professionals and or managers and Pilot Plant Technicians responsible for the development, testing, documentation, training and transition to production required to expand the sales of Sealed Air products through the (1) conception, development, and commercialization of new materials and concepts, (2) identifying potential new technologies to be used in development and manufacturing of Sealed Air products and systems, (3) improvements to existing Sealed Air products and systems, and (4) providing technical support to Sealed Air internal and external customers and other functions for trouble-shooting and other requirements.

Job Description

  • Work with One SEE leaders, both locally and globally, and other functional counterparts : to develop and ensure fitness-for-use of new products and systems versus market needs and competition.

  • Ensure the development and management of a diverse talent pool for the creation and introduction of new and improved products and processes.
  • Great focus on innovation, new system integration and automation opportunities to grow the Company and filing new intellectual property.

  • Accountable for the management of departmental budgets.
  • Accountable for recruiting, hiring, training, career planning, and development of a diverse group necessary to accomplish the goals of the organization and One SEE division.
  • Responsible for engagement with outside technology companies in consideration of innovation activities
  • Accountable for ensuring Development group delivers business priorities (i.e., projects and support) on time and in full.
  • Responsible for maintaining competitive product and IP information and participating in the development of competitive response strategy.
  • Responsible for working with One SEE leader’s and Marketing / Platforms leaders to define a value proposition approach for each new project, allowing correct company prioritization and decision-making at IDP (stage gate) steps.
  • Strong focus on sustainability and coordination with other functions to make it happen
  • Responsible for ensuring an optimum cost-to-serve for development resources involved in product / systems development and product and systems support.
  • Accountable for maintaining a safe and incident-free working environment.
  • Qualifications

  • University degree in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Packaging Science, Food / Meat Science, Food Technology, or related field.
  • Marketing and automation experience or background are appreciated

  • Demonstrated success in building a high performance organization or work-group, and attracting and developing best-in-class technical and leadership talent;
  • proven ability to recruit, attract, develop, and manage a diversified group of professionals.

  • 5-10 years of relevant materials, packaging industry or food industry, FMCG experience is a plus.
  • Proven project management experience and leadership.
  • Proven ability to deliver technical support to SEE internal and external customers and other functional counterparts.
  • Technical credibility with Supply Chain, Sales & Marketing and other business and Platforms leaders.
  • Overall knowledge of technologies to Division(s); breadth of experience in various process technologies would be an advantage.
  • Able to make decisions, give clear priority / focus and provide feedback up and down the chain of command.
  • Able to work on a global basis with appropriate sensitivities to cultures, businesses, etc.; experience of living in more than one location (international) would be an advantage.
  • Fluent English is a must; proficiency in another language and / or facility to learn another language would be an advantage.
  • Work experience outside of R&D (e.g. Supply Chain, Marketing..) would be an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel is a must.
