As a Senior Mechanical Engineer in our Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry business in Rodano, Milan, you will interact daily with engineers and scientists as we brainstorm and tackle complex problems in order to introduce new and improved products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Use 3D CAD to create novel designs, parts, assemblies, and instruments.
Use GD&T to communicate allowable parts variations.
Release designs for series production with all necessary engineering documentation.
Develop and review design concepts, drawings, bill of materials, and assembly processes and techniques.
Participate in prototype build and preproduction activities.
Participate in Engineering Change processes.
Develop, design and implement equipment, tooling, fixturing, processes and standard work to achieve production requirements for safety, delivery and cost.
Provide assignments for Designers, Technicians, or junior Engineers.
Optimize existing equipment, processes and standard work to increase yield, reduce defects, and increase production efficiency.
Interface with outside contractors for equipment and process development.
Work with Operations team to develop sourcing / in-sourcing strategies and relationships.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
M.S. in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
5+ years of experience designing parts and assemblies for series production.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Necessary to Perform Essential Functions
Proficiency with SolidWorks 3D CAD software, 3-5 years.
Proficiency designing parts for machining.
Proficiency designing parts for sheet metal forming.
Proficiency designing parts for injection molding.
Proficiency using GD&T for engineering documentation.
Knowledge of high vacuum desirable.
Knowledge of gas chromatography desirable.
Knowledge of metalworking with mill, lathe, drill press and / or other machine shop tools.
Ability to complete FA inspections.
Knowledge of DFMA methodology.
Fluency in English both written and spoken.
Proficiency using document control process and methodology.
Ability to estimate completion time of design tasks.
Ability to estimate manufacturing costs.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures.
Resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways.
