EHS Specialist

As an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining environmental health andsafety programs, policies and procedures that assure that Johnson Controls siteis in compliance with applicable local and national regulations andinternational safety Standards of the company.

Implement trainingprograms to maintain compliance and to increase the overall level of health andsafety awareness of employees at the company.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop and implement Operational Risk Managementstrategies that align with corporate objectives to reduce / mitigate operationalrisk;
  • Utilize key metrics to drive performance in ORM inevery business;
  • Communication of EHS results to all levels within theorganization;
  • Participate in the periodical EHS conference,quarterly webcasts, regional meetings, etc.;
  • Primary liaison to collaborate with Johnson ControlsLegal and Communications Department regarding incidents that could jeopardizethe integrity of the brands;
  • Keep abreast of applicable EHS legislation andpractices that impact to the business;
  • Apply on a yearly basis for BONUS for lowest accidentsrate
  • Manage and interact with a diverse group ofdepartments at local and corporate level;
  • Ensure that the technicians and subcontractors adheresto applicable Johnson Controls policies / procedures, processes and operatingprinciples;
  • Recommends new policies or procedures as necessary;
  • Coordinates and assists with the implementation of EHScontinuous improvement principles into day-by-day operational basis;
  • Perform or manage safety training for the whole staff
  • Implement Johnson Controls ORM Systems and BestPractices as designed
  • Provide training to staff and employees to ensure thatall recognize their contribution to improved ORM performance;
  • Ensure compliance with any EHS legislation;
  • Coordinate and attend any hearings on EHS matters;
  • Lead site safety council meetings and communicatesafety metrics and status on the implementation of EHS programs
  • Provide leadership and guidance to site management inthe implementation of site safety teams
  • Directs and oversees activities related to EHSOperational control, including staffing, scheduling, coordinating, andplanning;
  • Develops and maintains new and current processes andtools to ensure compliance with all national and local EHS regulations andassists the technical department with these requirements;
  • Devise and implement the EHS annual Programs. Ensureaction items are developed and implemented for process improvement;
  • Meet corporate deadlines and completion targets
  • Driveoptimal EHS performance results
  • Position Requirements :

  • Master / Bachelor’s degree in Safety and EnvironmentalManagement, Industrial Hygiene or equivalent is preferred; Bachelor’s leveldegree is required
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in safety andenvironmental management is required
  • Prior experience with Process Safety Management andRisk Management programs preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA , European Regulationsand Management Systems (i.e., OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, SafetyManagement Systems)
  • Continuous Improvement Principles and Practices
  • Certification in Ergonomics, Certified SafetyProfessional (CSP), or Associate Safety professional (ASP) is preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a team orientedfast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, presentationand facilitation skills
  • Well-developed written and verbal communicationskills, with an ability to partner and communicate with all levels of theorganization (in English language preferably).
  • Willingness to grow with the organization and committo doing what it takes to attain aggressive organizational objectives
  • Must have the ability to exercise considerablejudgment, problem solving and decision- making skills
  • Possibility to travel 30-40% of the time.
