Practice Overview : Actuarial Services, Milan office

Integrated in a global network comprising more than 300 actuaries in North America and Europe, the Milan office of the Actuarial Practice is launched as of October 2020 and will be part of the strongly growing European presence of Oliver Wyman’s Actuarial Services.

We are looking for actuarial consultants during this ramp-up phase to further develop our practice and serve the interests of insurance and reinsurance companies locally.

Our consultants bring a combination of broad-based expertise with specialized knowledge of specific risks. They are recognized as industry experts and hold the highest professional qualifications, allowing us to provide independent and objective advice.

We are committed to unparalleled expertise in actuarial and risk sciences, always renewed by the breadth of our consultants’ experiences and independent research.

We continuously finetune our methods for evaluating, measuring, and reporting on risk in the three primary activities of our clients : Life, Health and Property & Casualty.

Projects include but are not limited to the following :

Solvency II : Comprehensively covering topics from pillars 1, 2 and 3 such as quantitative modelling for internal models, cash flow projection models, ORSA, reporting, process automation and qualitative aspects around data quality, internal control system and regulatory compliance

IFRS 17 : Interpretation of underlying standards, implementations on cash flow projection models, topics around processes and data

Actuarial Modelling in the context of asset-liability-topics

Insurance mergers & acquisitions and actuarial due diligence alongside transactions

Product development : design, pricing, profitability testing

Work in support of our management consulting and strategy practice

Role Definition

The Consultant / Senior Consultant will usually be included in a project team and will be given various responsibilities through-out the actuarial projects :

Working independently or under the guidance from the project manager on (sub-) workstreams of the project

Gaining knowledge and deepening subject matter expertise in the project’s underlying topics

Daily responsibilities for the success of some workstreams within actuarial projects : supporting project management, methodology setting and deliverable preparation;

Development of intellectual capital within the Actuarial Practice;

Public presentation or press article preparation in relation with research updates.

Desired Skills and Experience

Just as every client project is different, we recognize and value the diversity of backgrounds and skill sets for successful candidates.

We welcome applicants with a proven track record of excellence.

Minimum of 1 / 3 years of relevant experience, ideally with a top-tier Actuarial consulting firm (or other similar organizations)

Having gained first experience in actuarial, financial and risk topics for insurance companies such as Solvency II, IFRS 17 and wider actuarial and risk management topics

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in both formal and informal settings

Excellent team and social skills

Fluent in Italian & English
