Senior Scientist Medicinal Chemistry To efficiently support and expand ongoing activities and needs of Evotec Verona Drug Discovery, we are looking for a highly motivated medicinal chemist to join the Evotec Verona Medicinal Chemistry team in a permanent position as Senior Scientist, Medicinal Chemistry.
The ideal candidate should have a proactive and open attitude, strong competences in synthetic and medicinal chemistry, a solid scientific track record, and motivation to work in a dynamic team.
Reports to Lab Head of Medicinal Chemistry Primary Responsibilities Ability to design novel synthetic pathways and to develop innovative chemical approaches exploiting available informatics tools (e.
g. SciFinder, Reaxys). To synthesise planned compounds within agreed timelines, quantity and purity; to take care of purification and standard characterization (NMR, UPLC / MS) of synthesized compounds.
To provide support to external clients in the preparation of patent applications and to prepare the experimental part when requested.
to assist in the evaluation, validation and implementation of new techniques; to be champion of innovative technologies.
To know and to apply main principles of medicinal chemistry, to develop a good knowledge of project related biology, computational and DMPK aspects.
To provide expertise, supervise and assist with training of other staff and to act as tutor for junior chemists. To ensure all work performed is carried out effectively, efficiently and to the highest standard within area of responsibility.
To be and effective and proactive project team member. Required skills or attributes Laurea or Ph.D. in Organic or Medicinal Chemistry (post doc are also welcomed).
good understanding of structural and analytical sciences. Track record of proficiency in the contextualisation of Medicinal Chemistry in the drug discovery process particularly applied to Hit Identification, Hit to Lead and Lead Optimization.
Good knowledge of other aspects of the entire drug discovery process and good understanding of other disciplines (e.g. in vitro and in vivo pharmacology, DMPK and Computational Chemistry).
Ability to deliver by operating flexibly in a changing environment, tight deadlines and high matrix complexity. Effective communication, both verbally and in written form, in English to external clients as well as members of internal teams; good presentation skills.
