Job Description

Alcon Academy-Surgical Trainers Ophthalmology (STOs) are 50% Field-based and 50% Office (lab)-based, who develop and manage peer-

to-peer relationships with Medical Experts within the Italian Alcon academy network. They strategically prepare and support the development of the material needed for the training center.

They respond to proactively training in different therapeutic areas in the Italian training center, congresses and unsolicited requests for scientific information.

Teacher Management & Medical Training Support

oDevelop peer to peer scientific relationships regarding different TAs (mainly biometry, cataract and vitreoretinal surgery), assess advocacy (degree of Medical Expert understanding and agreement with medical platform statements) and contributions (activities in which Medical Experts are independently qualified to engage or collaborate with the organization), and respond to unsolicited requests for scientific information using approved, non-

promotional materials with Medical Experts / Key Stakeholders, Health Care Professionals (HCPs) and decision makers.

oContribute to identification and mapping of Medical Experts / trainers in line with local strategies.

oProvide and discuss scientific information and data with HCPs to ensure quality and accuracy of medical and scientific information provided during the training sessions.

oLiaise and provide up-to-date medical support to relevant external groups to ensure evi-dence based understanding of Alcon products relative to medical guidelines, and health economic information.

oProvide speaker training to HCPs to support education to the healthcare community about new therapies developed and commercialized by Alcon.

Training Center management

oResponsible for all the activities (training plan) for the dry-lab (Caleppio) and on the road at National and regional level.

oCoordinate calendar, participant’s presence and logistics for the success of any course delivered.

oResponsible for customer satisfaction survey & feedback implementation

oEnsure adherence of Contract management and internal approval processes

oSet-up and maintenance instrumentation and secure consumables availability needed

oBudget Management

Scientific Exchange / Insights

oEngage in scientific discussions related to Alcon research areas / compounds / pipeline with MEs, speakers & investigators.

oSupport scientific exchange to advance understanding of new scientific principles, novel research trends, and current scientific debate.

Internal Alcon Support

oProvide scientific and technical support (i.e. disease state and product) to Alcon col-leagues (e.g. sales reps, Marketing, Market Access, etc.).

oMain contact partner with regional Alcon academy (AEA)

oProvide Medical Support to Alcon Marketing colleagues for development of marketing and sales materials (Advertising and Promotion) related to Alcon academy

oMedical Review and Approval of marketing and sales materials related to Academy

Minimum requirements

Required : MSc in Life sciences (Medicine, Bio-engineering, Pharmacy, CTF, Biology, Optometry, etc ) with solid medical / technical background in ophthalmology and / or medical devices.

Advance education like PharmD / PhD will be considered as additional asset during the selection process.

Italian, mother tongue level (oral and written).

Fluent in English (oral and written).

1.Proven ability to develop and foster peer-to-peer, credible relationships with Medical Experts / decision makers.

2.Experience serving as a medical professional in a medical device, biotechnology or pharmaceutical company is desirable.

3.Thorough knowledge of clinical medicine, medical devices, disease management, and medical research ideally in Oph-thalmology.

4.Ability to understand and convey emergent scientific infor-mation.

5.Proven ability to use IT tools and interface effectively with a variety of technical platforms esp. strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) is required

6.Strong personal integrity and customer focus.

7.Excellent interpersonal communication, negotiation and advanced presentation skills.

8.Able to effectively contribute and work on multifunctional teams.

9.Must be able to adapt, organize, prioritize, and work effec-tively in a constantly changing field-based environment.

10.Willingness to work with KOL's / Customers in operating rooms (OR).

11.50% of the time willingness to travel required (mostly within Italy).

12.The ideal candidate for this position would reside in Milan area and if not is available to transfer near Milan
