Packaging is a fundamental element of the Product that the consumer buys and consumes. Beside to be the main means of communication to the customer, it plays the primary function of preserving the Product, without giving in any way foreign substances in quantities that endanger human health or lead to an unacceptable change in the composition of foodstuffs or a deterioration of their organoleptic characteristics.
In that context, the Resource will support the primary packaging Innovation funnel both in the end-to-end execution of assigned projects and day-
by-day activities relevant for the development of Global briefs and activities.
As part of the Primary Packaging Team , the candidate will work across product categories and brands of the Ferrero Group :
Developing appropriate packaging solutions from a structural / Brand-fit / cost / complexity management point of view, related to new Products or Consumer Units development following the Group guide lines in matter of Product protection, Food safety, Industrial requirements, Market needs and Group objectives
Exploring, developing, supporting, and adopting innovative packaging materials and solutions required to support innovative packaging design through partnerships with Suppliers and Research Institutes and in cooperation with Design & Deploy teams.
Sharing best practices and knowledge across the Ferrero global packaging network to ensure packaging material performance, food safety and cost effective solutions to enhance Ferrero competitiveness in all markets worldwide.
Job activities :
Group strategic projects development and implementation on an industrial level in total security in the reference Markets and according to Ferrero’s guidelines.
New food contact packaging material specifications tailor-made for new Product or new CU to ensure best shelf life conditions.
Step innovation on primary packaging materials and technologies, which may bring to a Ferrero’s IP.
Work with Suppliers to enhance material performance, such as barriers, machine speed, thickness reduction, aesthetics, etc
Innovation for cost optimization and material consumption reduction on existing packaging.
Existing packaging structure optimization based on Environmental Sustainability guide lines responding to Ferrero’s CSR commitment.
Analytical activities in cooperation with internal and external laboratories aimed to create and validate packaging specifications.
Ensure efficient communication flows for sharing of best practices across the Regions, supporting the creation of an extended Packaging network.
The ideal candidate is a graduate in Chemistry, Chemistry Engineering or similar graduation program who has already gained an experience (4 / 5 years) as a R&D / packaging specialist / technical position at packaging R&D center, suppliers or research institutes.
Packaging material and related industrials technologies knowledge, Project management, Problem-solving, Decision-making, and critical-
thinking skills are considered as mandatory for the role.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Flexibility, adaptability and aptitude to team-work.
Availability to travel and transfer.
An operational knowledge of the English language (written and spoken) for international relations is a mandatory requirement.
Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook);
Basic knowledge of the following software will be considered a plus : SAP LIMS and lab’s instruments Software for project management (e.
g. Microsoft Project); 2D Autocad, 3D design software
