This attorney position is primarily responsible for performing tasks related to administrative law, however, the position also includes duties related to civil, environmental, fiscal , international , labor and employment law.
Serve as an ethics counselor, reviewing OGE Form 450 and OGE Form 278e, and prepare opinions and furnish advice pertaining to questions involving standards of conduct and conflict of interest issues.
Prepare opinions and furnish advice regarding a wide variety of ethics law issues, including post-employment restrictions and contact with prohibited sources.
Research original source material and interpret United States statutes, court decisions, departmental rulings and implementing regulations as they apply.
Prepare legal opinions with recommendations for appropriate administrative action.
Provide guidance to investigating officers and review reports of investigations, proposed regulations, and specific administrative actions;
and prepare advisory legal opinions, as requested, regarding matters which affect major policy areas.
Provide advice and guidance to all levels of the command regarding fiscal law issues as they relate to contracting and other matters, e.g., travel, personnel.
Interpret US and host nation laws and regulations, international agreements and treaties.
Advise USARAF / SETAF activities on administrative law and procedure applicable to US Forces and their activities in the USARAF / SETAF area of operations.
As needed, advise USARAF / SETAF Commanders and Staff, US Army Garrison-Italy Commanders and Staff, Chief of NAF Policy, and other requiring activities regarding fiscal law issues involving expenditures of appropriated and nonappropriated funds.
As needed, research original source material such as statutes, judicial decisions, and rules and regulations pertaining to the environmental impact and legal compliance by U.S. Forces overseas.
As needed, assist in the preparation of environmental impact statements and foreign litigation involving environmental law issues.
