    Then this job may be for you! EFSA is looking for Communications Officers who combine generalist skills and experience in traditional communications practice with demonstrated effective understanding and use of the very latest trends in digital and community management.

    Your key responsibilities

  • Research, develop, create, and measure the impact of engaging communication materials in all content types;
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency and coherence in messaging and design when developing communication materials;
  • Define audiences (business, scientific, consumer, etc.) to help build and engage online communities;
  • Advise colleagues across the organisation on the use of digital / social media platforms to promote their work and outreach and engagement activities;
  • Lead communications projects or campaigns in cooperation with network partners at international, EU, and national level;
  • Identify issues related to risk communications that may impact EFSA’s reputation and proactively make proposals to exploit opportunities and mitigate risks;
  • Speak on behalf of EFSA on digital channels, via the media, or in public;

    000 inhabitants located in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna and ranked as one of the most liveable cities in Italy. Its centre is rich in art, with architecture from different periods and plenty of parks.

    Parma is famous for its food, surrounding picturesque countryside and medieval castles. It is strategically located between major cities like Milano and Bologna and within reachable distance from ski resorts, seaside and mountains.

    Salary and benefits EFSA can offer the selected candidate a contract of 5 years with the possibility of renewal. The successful candidate will be recruited as Temporary Agent Grade AD6 with the basic salary starting from € 5.

    524 monthly, subject to an annual review of remuneration provided for in Article 65(1) of the Staff Regulations. In addition to the basic salary, EFSA offers a range of benefits :

  • Various allowances to which the successful jobholder may be entitled, such as a household allowance, expatriation allowance (16% of basic salary), dependent child allowance and education allowance.
  • The salary is subject to a Community tax deducted at source and staff members are exempt from national taxation.

  • Wide range of leaves (e.g. annual leave, parental leave, public holidays) and flexible working hours. Besides working in EFSA’s modern headquarter located in the heart of Parma, staff members are also offered the possibility to telework up to 50% of working time.

  • Be national of a Member State of the European Union, Iceland or Norway;
  • Enjoy full rights as a citizen;
  • Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by laws concerning military service;

    II.Selection criteria The following competencies will be assessed throughout the different phases of the selection procedure.

    Candidates are also expected to demonstrate effective communication in both spoken and written English as well as strong motivation for the position.

  • 1.Technical competencies i. At least 3 years of professional experience in collaborating and partnering with stakeholders : Able to identify key (internal) stakeholders and bring them to the table, to develop a shared vision and mission with partners, to work effectively and inclusively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, to put stakeholder's criticism, complaints and special requests into a greater business context which allows advice, solutions and improvements in line with the organisational needs, able to plan for how partnerships will be sustained over the long term;
  • ii. Experience in communicating information to different target audiences : able to convey complex / technical / sensitive concepts and make them understandable to the target audience, to consult and manage information sources, able to adapt the language and style of communication to the target audience, to structure and / or summarise information to be presented or published;
  • iii. Experience in gathering and analysing data and information : able to gather, process and analyse relevant data and information, to identify which metrics align most closely with business goals, to visualise and narrate data driven insights;
  • iv. Experience in managing communications : able to develop communication strategies, coordinate coherence among the messages transmitted, understand and interpret communication trends, linking them to business strategies, able to propose innovative communication solutions;
  • v. Experience in project management : able to translate strategic project goals into clear project objectives, to monitor the project progress and results (on time, costs and quality), to adjust project / working plans when external or internal conditions alter, able to analyse and engage project stakeholders via a clear communication strategy.
