JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE
As Mine Manager you lead our underground talc mine located in Rodoretto and reporting to the general site manager. You manage all activities at the mine for safe, clean, efficient, and profitable operations.
You ensure that adequate supplies of ore are provided to the plant and other customers.
YOUR KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
You are responsible for safety of location employees, and external visitors, as well as compliance with Italian law, Imerys safety regulations, policies and procedures including compliance with all environmental permits.
You ensure sustainable development and optimization of resources, regulatory compliance, community and fair labour relations.
You manage and coordinate the capital planning process to ensure timely and optimal use of capital, in meeting production requirements and Company goals.
You oversee location ore control program that involves identification, planning and stockpiling of ore that will satisfy plant production and quality control requirements.
You confer with management personnel to establish production and quality standards, create safety, health, environmental and quality objectives, and develop budget and cost controls.
You apply knowledge of mining operations and / or engineering principles participating to improvement ideas and resolution of problem areas.
You direct subordinate Managers and Supervisors, and through them their staffs, ensuring their professional development, managing their performance according to established objectives and responsibilities, coordinating location goals with Company strategic plans, and delegating authority as required.
You perform other duties as assigned (Report budget and activities, coordinate planning and activities coordination for engineering, environmental team, mine and geology, outside suppliers and contractors, manage visits by officials, make presentations to executives management, employees and externals...)
Education and Experience requirements :
5+ years’ experience of underground mining operations
3+ years of supervisory / management experience
Degree in Mining Engineering, in Geology or Geotechnical Engineering (listed in the Italian register called Albo degli Ingegneri ) (Civil and Environmental Engineering with mine operations experience will be considered)
Knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics :
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with people from all levels of the organization, vendors and customers,
Ability to perform multiple tasks effectively and to meet deadlines,
Technical knowledge of mining and mining equipment,
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, ERP systems is desirable
Good leadership, interpersonal, organizational skills with the ability to effectively supervise diverse work groups,
Blasting knowledge and experience
Geology knowledge and experience
Survey knowledge and experience
3D mining software CAD experience (AutoCAD, and one of the following : Minesight, Surpac, CAE, Vulcan or Datamine)
Project Management experience
Fluent in spoken and written Italian and English
