Role Summary :
Directly reporting to the Commodity Leader, he / she is the reference for all technical matters. Works with Scouting, Supplier Development, NPI and Quality team to select, integrate, qualify new suppliers.
Supports the buyer during the RFQ process and negotiations. Cooperates with the Contract Administrator to define with the supplier the recovery plan in case of technical issues impacting the deliveries.
Manages technical topics with onsite visits partnering when applicable with GE Aviation.
Essential Responsibilities :
Participate to the market analysis (opportunities, constraints) with the Scouting team and participate to the suppliers selection
Support the supplier assessments in connection with the Supplier Development team
Support the NPI Team, in particular the qualification of new products
Cooperate with the Sourcing Quality team on all technical issues, both in development and in production
Support the buyer during the RFQ process and negotiations
Support the Contract Administrator in the recovery plan, when affected by technical constrains
Build strong relationship with GE Aviation Sourcing to collaborate and share opportunities
Understand product and supply landscape. Contributes to develop and execute solutions to create a competitive advantage or overcome supplier capability (capacity and technology) needs.
Perform on site supplier visits to understand capabilities and potential grow
Ability to build, maintain, advance, or exit supplier and customer relationships (internal & external).
Work with suppliers to develop and execute resource, capacity, and technology plans which create a competitive advantage for GE Avio
Clear understanding of manufacturing processes, sequence of operations, cycle times and inventory. Connect drawing and quality requirements.
Understand GE Avio internal procedures and Customer technical requirements
Managing the Vendor Tooling, assuring the correct P&E allocation for the right refurbishment and replacement
Qualifications / Requirements :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
Strong knowledge of commodity product and manufacturing process
Significant experience in Manufacturing and Quality
Competences acquired in the mill / forge / foundry industry segments, preferable but not limited to the aerospace
Knowledge of the superalloys (nickel and cobalt content) for high temperature applications and carburizing steel for gear applications
Previous experience in building relationship with Suppliers
Ability to work in a matrix organization
Able to analyze rout-cause
Availability to travel
EU work Permit
Desired Characteristics :
Technical background and expertise in additive manufacturing, sand casting, forgings, raw materials would be considered as a plus
Knowledge of the Aerospace and Defense global supply base, with an established network
Deep knowledge of manufacturing and quality processes
Understanding of Lean-Six Sigma manufacturing and methodology application to problem solving
Experience in the product design process
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Strong oral and written communication skills, both in Italian and English
