We own infrastructure and services hosted both at world-leading providers like Google, Microsoft, and AWS, as well as operate our own datacenters in multiple locations across the world.
Job Description
Our team is looking for a Principal Platform Engineer who will imagine, design and build technical solutions that will help accelerate business growth, improve efficiency, and reduce technical debt within the organization.
You will work with solutions provided by both 3rd vendors, and internally developed applications and infrastructure. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, collection and analysis of business requirements, producing documentation, designs, and delivery of software, infrastructure, and other information systems.
As our Principal Engineer you will drive architectural standards and simplification, and ensure the design, development, delivery, and supportability of services / solutions for businesses are in accordance with business and IT objectives.
Your typical customers are SUSE employees from various functional areas such as Supply Chain, Research and Development, Marketing, Finance, and other business units.
Location : The position is open for remote work in the EU where we have legal entity, or hybrid or full-time at our offices in Prague, Czech Republic or Sofia, Bulgaria.
Responsibilities :
Participate as a member of and lead cross-functional teams. Represent the team in front of its customers and senior leadership.
Demonstrate technical leadership and exert influence outside of immediate team. Develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
Contributes to strategic direction of the department.
Apply in-depth or broad technical knowledge to build and enhance solutions across multiple technology areas.
Perform collection and analysis of complex functional and business requirements, and lead design activities to fulfill them.
Independently deliver infrastructure or services of significant complexity.
Integrate technical expertise and business understanding to create superior solutions for the company and customers. Mentor and consult team members and other organizations, customers and vendors on complex issues.
Expected skills :
Experience writing code using one of the modern programming languages such as Kotlin, Go, Rust orPython.
Advanced understanding of modern software development methodologies, tools and SCM
Advanced understanding of Software Test methodologies, and an expert in testing tools.
Expertise in multiple technology domains (cloud, containers, networking, databases)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; influencing skills and ability to work effectively in a geographically dispersed team.
Demonstrated technical leadership skills.

Experience building greenfield software and infrastructure products
Experience building hybrid cloud solutions
