Position summary :
The candidate will be part of the Electronics Engineering development team, as Transmission system engineer in Vehicle Dynamics area;
he / she shall interface with other Engineering departments, Vehicle Validation and external Suppliers and Partners, for the collection, clarification and validation of the requirements concerning the integration of Transmission and Retarder controllers with the other electronic control systems of the vehicle (internal combustion engine and hybrid-electric powertrain configurations).
The candidate shall be responsible for the definition of functional and performance requirements of the shared functions between the vehicle and the Transmission and Retarder, including fuel-economy oriented functions, Predictive Drive, Autonomous Drive and Stop & Start.
Moreover, the candidate shall be able to manage the Suppliers in charge for the development and supply of transmission and retarder systems and she / he shall be responsible for coordinating their validation and documentation among all involved departments, in order to provide the final release for production.
Main Tasks :
Work cohesively as a member of Transmission development team, collaborating with other members of the team and interfacing, as needed, with Chief Engineers, other departments and external Suppliers and Partners, to support the application and release of Transmission and Retarder systems, with the end goal of maximizing quality and delivering the new application on schedule within the limits of available budget.
Review with the vehicle engineers the installation and the electrical requirements and other relevant elements for the integration of the Transmission and Retarder controllers on vehicle.
Collect the basic requirements considering legislation, engineering standards, safety, cybersecurity and product requirements (Requirements Elicitation).
Create and maintain detailed functional specifications for electronic integration of vehicle-driveline control systems and their relevant control functions (Requirement Management / Requirement Development).
Integrate and ensure the validation of components, products and systems under development and prepare test and engineering reports consistent with program requirements and IVECO development processes (Verification and Validation).
Support the design and maintenance of the manufacturing and diagnostic tools for End-of-line and Customer Service (Configuration / Change Management).
Interface with System and Application Engineers of TIER1 Suppliers and Partners for the refinement of requirements and solutions (Supplier Management).
Prepare test and engineering reports consistent with program requirements and IVECO development processes.
Review progress of projects and provides frequent team progress updates to stakeholders, keeping project planning aligned with the vehicle milestones (Project Control).
Incorporate the engineering safety and quality standards, methodologies and global product development processes into all aspects of project development.
Provide support to Quality department for problem solving of on-field reported claims (Quality Control).
Propose innovations, create invention disclosures, develop new design concepts and IP which will advance IVECO product / systems.
MS / BS Degree in Engineering with emphasis in Electronic, Mechatronic and / or Mechanical disciplines (with preference for Automotive Engineering Politecnico di Torino) or equivalent work experience (2-4 years of experience).
Knowledge of vehicle electronic architectures and applications, including CAN communication and diagnostics (SAE J1939 and ISO 14229 - UDS protocols), Design FMEA, Functional Safety and Cybersecurity.
Good knowledge in Electric and Hybrid-Electric vehicles principles, architectures and functions; Automatic Control theory.
Communication skills to cooperate with suppliers, other departments inside the company and technical / management partners belonging to other agencies / companies.
Knowledge of the tools for developing and testing the system on the bench and on the vehicle (CANalyzer, CANOe) and the tools for the calibration of specific applications (INCA, CANApe).
Remarkable aptitudes for leadership and team-working; strong commitment to meet the goals.
Proficiency in design analysis and proven experience in Electronic systems design and integration.
English language : advanced level; German language is appreciated.
Availability to national and international business trips for medium / short periods (approx. frequency : 1 trip every 2-3 months).
