The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART) in a SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) organization.

The RTE’s major responsibilities are to facilitate the ART events and processes and assist the Agile Teams in delivering value.

RTEs communicate with stakeholders, escalate impediments, help manage risk, and drive continuous improvement.

We need an RTE (Release Train Engineer) or a Senior Scrum Master who has worked in a complex, Scaled Agile environment to help supporting our Scrum Teams, Product Management and our Lean / Agile Champions on a strategic-level.

As our Release Train Engineer you will work with our Product Management and Lean / Agile Champions across multiple, cross-

functional Agile Teams, drive and facilitate Agile / Lean best-practices across engineering delivery as a whole. This will include escalating impediments, managing risk, ensure value delivery and drive relentless improvement.

As an RTE you will contribute to the realization of great products by fulfilling the following responsibilities :

  • Facilitating Program release trains processes and execution. You will escalate impediments, manage risk, help ensure value delivery, and help drive relentless improvement.
  • Establish and communicate the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs)Facilitate PI Planning readiness by fostering a Continuous Exploration process which drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, and BacklogsFacilitate the PI planning event and summarize Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives and publish them for visibility and transparencyFacilitate periodic synchronization meetings, including the ART Sync (Scrum of Scrum and PO Sync) at the Program Level and Assist tracking the execution of featuresFacilitate System DemosDrive continuous improvement via Inspect and Adapt workshops;
  • assess the agility level of the ART and help them improve

  • Ensuring effective operations across the Agile Teams aligned to the ART to ensure high-quality business value is delivered.
  • You willIdentify and pursue opportunities to fine-tune and improve Train execution; recommending enhancementsManage and optimize the flow of value through the ART using various tools, such as the Program Kanban and other information radiatorsHelp manage risks and dependenciesEscalate and track impedimentsProvide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecksFoster the use of engineering and Built-

    In order to do so you have to :

  • Have a solid Agile and Lean mindset having applied Agile and Lean principles in relevant contexts.
  • Have a sound knowledge of Scrum and Kanban
  • Have knowledge of the SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework)
  • Having knowledge of Agile budgeting and Agile Metrics
  • Think beyond day-to-day activities and be a System Thinker
  • Listen and support teams in problem identification and decision-making
  • Create an environment of mutual influence
  • Understand and empathize with others
  • Encourage and support the personal development of each individual and the development of teams
  • Coach people with powerful questions rather than use authority
