The CHALLENGE

We are looking for a Product Development Manager Extrusion to join our Research & Development Business Unit in Amcor Flexibles Europe, Middle East & Africa.

In this role you will be reporting to Product Development Director. This role is available as flexible location in Europe (home-based or Amcor site-based) and will require remote team management as well as travelling.

In this challenging position, your main objective will be to manage the Extrusion Product Development Team and the Extrusion Product Development portfolio (e.

g. the development and management of new and enhanced products and support of existing products renovation).

It will involve a close teamwork with Sales, Product Management and Marketing within Extrusion as well as close relationship with all R&D Vertical teams enabling growth through Innovation and partnership with our customers.

You will be collaborating with Procurement, integrating solutions from our suppliers and promoting multi-sourcing, sites and with Operational Excellence leveraging and supporting company know-how and expertise driving for results.

You will manage costs and resources associated to projects, set targets and contribute to and implement overall business strategy.

R&D is a global organization, therefore global networking with Amcor R&D as well as leveraging global know-how, expertise and resources will be of key importance together with the ability to work with global customers.

Principal Accountabilities

Product Development Portfolio Management

Manage the product development process and governance within mainly Extrusion. Allocate resources in accordance with business priority balancing short, medium and long term targets.

Responsible for monitoring, driving and reporting the product development pipeline. Provide the necessary support to Marketing and Product Management in creating and executing a Product Development Strategy.

Lead the team to develop profitable highly qualitative products responding and anticipating customer and market needs across multiple sites and in teamwork with Marketing, Product Management, Sales, Procurement, Opex (Operational Excellence), Manufacturing sites and global R&D..

Team Management

Develop, motivate, coach the team and nurture an innovative and creative attitude to problem solving

Develop, motivate, coach the team to project management excellence

Organize and lead the team to create strong development partnership with key customers. Create synergy R&D Vertical teams at global level, R&D Extrusion experts across regions and with Field Technical Service (FTS) to provide excellent technical service to customers and speed up developments and new business opportunities implementation.

Facilitate efficient communication across business units / markets to share and leverage knowledge. Create and nurture the One Team culture within global R&D.

Intellectual Property

Manage confidentiality requirements within the company and with external partners by promoting, setting in place and monitoring the proper documentations and processes

Manage the Extrusion IP portfolio in teamwork with the IP team

Promote and lead proper IP protection and IP strategy for Extrusion portfolio, including support and coordinate patent and trade secret documentation processes and governance

Major Challenges & Complexities

Teamwork and interactions with multiple Amcor functions and different level of the organization

Teamwork and interactions with external organizations, such as customers, suppliers, laboratories, universities, research centers etc.

R&D is a global organization, therefore ability to global networking and connection is key for the role

Extrusion develops important building blocks to fit flexible packaging products for Global Key Account customers with complex organizations and multiple interfaces

Project development and implementation across multiple sites, Business Units (BUs), Business Groups (BGs)

WHAT YOU BRING

Formal Qualifications and Experience

Master degree in chemistry, engineering or material science required

Experience in Innovation portfolio management

Strong experience in team management and team development

Proven experience in Process, Governance and Project Management

Strong experience in managing global customer and organization interactions

Min. 5 years of experience in packaging

Knowledge of analytical techniques to characterise and test polymers, polymer films and multilayer laminate structures

Knowledge of raw materials related to flexible packaging, especially polymers

Knowledge of the Extrusion technologies
