Join us as an ERTMS Senior Wayside Specific Application Engineer and you’ll be looking at a career-defining role based in Italy, Rome.

Purpose of the Job

In this role, you will create the high-level architecture, design and select major components for ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System) Wayside subsystems.

You will design, analyze, develop, test and demonstrate engineering solutions that solve complex requirements. Provide scheduling and cost estimates on project engineering planning and provide technical expertise in support of other departments and less experienced engineering personnel.

Your responsibilities will include :

Analyse technical specifications, customer requirements, norms and interfaces and provide system architecture and system design specifications.

Design engineering systems and complex interfaces, gather and analyse complicated technical data, solve system level design problems.

Develop reliability, safety and maintainability approaches, while looking for an optimum design approach.

Test, demonstrate and document system level designs, develop test procedures, lead design, delegate work to other team members.

Provide cost estimations and create the scheduling inside the project.

Train less experienced engineers, giving the required support, based on their expertise and experience. Work on high level of quality.

Provide technical expertise in support of other functions / departments (Customer Service, Engineering Manufacturing, Field Start-up, Operations and Maintenance Manual production, Bids, etc.).

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electronics, Mechanical, Telecommunications Engineering or any other relevant field will be a plus.

Relevant experience required (i.e. directly linked to the requirements of the position / role).

Strong experience in signalling and ERTMS wayside systems.

Experience with SCMT will be highly preferred.

Specialized or cross-functional knowledge / relevant experience required by the position / role.

Experienced in multi-site projects will be considered a plus.

Open minded, easily adaptable, positive attitude towards new challenges.

Good communication, negotiation and influencing skills.

Flexibility and ability to adapt to a dynamic business environment.

Willingness to travel (nationally and international).

English and Italian at a fluent level are mandatory for this role, French or any other European language will be considered a plus.
