Technical sales engineers use their technical knowledge along with sales skills to provide advice and support on a range of products, for which a certain level of expertise is needed.

They assist colleagues with products selections, bids and tenders for internal and external salesforce as well as new clients from a technical perspective.

Technical sales engineers are a key technical point of contact for the salesforce and clients and provide both pre and after-

sales advice. They liaise regularly with other members of the sales team and colleagues from a range of departments, such as :


The tasks carried out by technical sales engineers include :

  • searching for the best product selection and solution so to meet customer expectations in terms of value for money and peformances;
  • developing long-term relationships with clients, through managing and interpreting their requirements;
  • persuading clients that a product or service best satisfies their needs in terms of quality, price, life cost and delivery;
  • negotiating tender and contract terms and conditions to meet both client and company needs;
  • providing pre-sales technical assistance and product education;
  • understanding costs and sales KPIs;
  • preparing reports for head office and keeping customer records;
  • meeting regular sales targets and coordinating sales projects;
  • making technical presentations and demonstrating how a product meets client needs;
  • Providing training and producing support material for other members of the sales team.
  • Qualifications

    Scientific bachelor degree

    You will need to have :

  • a technical background, both in terms of products and application / installation;
  • very good English knowledge, others languages are welcome;
  • PC knowledge;
  • communication skills;
  • sound judgement and good business sense;
  • service and customer oriented;
  • the ability to build relationships quickly and effectively;
  • analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • capacity to handle demanding situations and high motivation;
  • enthusiasm;
  • interest working in an international environment;
  • strong interest and curiosity to a continuous learning process.
