Cost Accountant Kite Europe Manufacturing and Operations

The Netherlands Finance team has an exciting opportunity for a Cost Accountant to be based in Amsterdam. With the expansion into a new therapeutic areas we are building the Finance capability for supporting the Manufacturing and Operations business for Kite Pharma Europe (aka TechOps).

In a fast speed and entrepreneurial setting you will be responsible for establishing the Cost Accounting role for the European manufacturing, supply chain and R&D functions as well as driving data integrity and compliance.

In this new role you will be given the opportunity to support the development and growth of Kite Pharma Europe.

The Cost Accountant reports to the Finance Director, works closely together with the Manager FP&A, interacts with local Manufacturing, Supply and R&D functions at all levels and manages key relationships within the US FP&A and Corporate Accounting team, Finance Shared Services and PDM Centers of Excellence (CoE).

Job Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze data to determine costs of manufacturing and business activity such as raw material purchases, labor, overhead and allocations
  • Analyze cost impact of changes in raw materials and manufacturing processes
  • Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
  • Responsible for monitoring inventory transactions within Oracle, to ensure they are done on a timely manner and in accordance with the policy and procedures
  • Review production order variance and ensure they are recorded on a timely manner
  • Conduct physical inventories and monitor cycle count program
  • Reconcile finished goods, WIP and Raw Material inventories
  • Work closely with production and quality in relation to possible inventory write offs
  • Key participant in month end close activities
  • Estimate costs for new and proposed products
  • Develop reports of COS and inventory balances, including comparisons to budget and relevant business drivers
  • Maintain the Cost Accounting system
  • Support systems and ways of working implementation for new products, processes and 3rd party manufacturing facilities
  • Supports development & implementation of internal financial & operational controls
  • Provide direction, policy guidance and issue resolution to business partners as needed; support business in understanding all inventory and costing related matters as required

  • Ability to deliver in a complex, fast speed and multi-task environment
  • Ability to manage effectively a wide variety of relationships
  • Advanced Excel, Hyperion, database and PowerPoint skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English
  • Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent and CIMA / ACA / ACCA / CPA qualification
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in inventory and cost accounting
  • Experience in a multi-national, preferably in biotech or pharmaceuticals industry
  • Strong knowledge of local GAAP and US GAAP
